SoundExchange is a non-profit collective rights management organization. The organization collects and distributes digital performance royalties on behalf of more than 155,000 recording artists and master rights owners accounts and administers direct agreements on behalf of rights owners and licensees. SXWorks, a SoundExchange subsidiary, acquired the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Ltd. (CMRRA) which represents music publishers and administers the majority of songs recorded, sold and broadcast in Canada.

How To Join

Visit https://www.soundexchange.com/ to join as an artist, and your music company (or yourself as an unsigned artist who owns the master) should join as a label.

*Note - SoundExchange pays out 45% of sound recording digital royalties directly to the artist and 50% directly to the sound recording copyright owner (e.g. record label or the unsigned artist/band that owns the master).

Fees: It is free to join SoundExchange and they conveniently make it easy for you to register as both the artist and label (which SoundExchange refers to as the “Sound recording copyright owner”) during the registration process.
