Overview
If you need to make changes to a registration after you’ve submitted, you can withdraw it while it’s in Initiating status. This allows you to edit the details and resubmit with corrected information.
Important: This feature should only be used in rare instances when you catch an error immediately after submitting. Always double-check your registration data before submitting to ensure your works are registered properly.
When You Can Withdraw a Registration
Registrations can only be withdrawn when they’re in Initiating status. We send pending Work registrations to the societies at the top of each hour, so your withdrawal window depends on when you submit:
Registration submitted at 12:01 PM = ~59 minutes to withdraw
Registration submitted at 12:30 PM = ~30 minutes to withdraw
Registration submitted at 12:58 PM = ~2 minutes to withdraw
Once a registration moves past Initiating status, it has been sent out to the collection societies and cannot be amended or withdrawn through our system.
How to Withdraw a Registration
Navigate to your Registration page
Locate the registration you need to withdraw (check status)
Click the Withdraw button next to the registration
The registration will be immediately withdrawn
The Withdraw button will only appear for registrations that are within the withdrawal window. Once the withdrawal window has passed, the button will no longer be visible and the registration has been sent to the collection societies.
What Happens After Withdrawal
When you withdraw a registration:
The Work is immediately unlocked in your catalog
All your original data remains intact
You can make any necessary changes to the Work
You can re-submit the registration right away
Why Accurate Data Matters
Our registrations are one-way. Once a registration is sent to a collection society, we cannot amend, recall or modify the registration in any way. Any corrections after that point must be made directly with each individual society.
Our partners rely on us to transmit accurate, authoritative, and clean registration data. Submitting inaccurate information creates issues for collection societies and will cause downstream problems with your royalty payments and rights.
Best Practice: Carefully review all metadata before submitting your registration. Use the withdrawal feature only as a last resort when you catch an error immediately after submission.
